Quality Assurance Engineer

    Job Overview
This position is responsible for running and building tests that ensure the quality of his/her assigned products within the scope of his/her training and expertise.
Key Responsibilities
„X Develop test plans.
„X Set-up testing environments.
„X Perform test cases and maintain associated test records.
„X Develop and utilize automated test scripts to perform duties
„X Record issues into a defect-tracking system.
„X Follow-up and close issues entered into the defect-tracking system.
„X Escalate issues to a higher level where issue resolution is not achieved within a reasonable amount of time.
„X Provide information to technical documentation (i.e. Product Release Notes/Readme files).
„X Review product documentation (manuals/Getting Started Guides) for technical accuracy.
„X Work with development team to understand assigned modules/new product features for the purpose of developing test cases.
Position-Specific Decision-Making Authority
„X Generally works without consulting their manager.
„X Independent decisions are made daily.
„X Examples of typical decisions without manager consultation:
„X Design decisions of a technical nature.
„X Differentiating a code bug from a design intent.
„X Use of testing techniques to verify correct function.
„X No significant budgetary or other financial accountability.
„X Does not supervise (hire, evaluate, and/or terminate) other employees.
Position-Specific Authorities
„X Perform product testing according to test plans/procedures.
„X Create and update Quality Assurance issues in the defect-tracking system.
„X Create test cases and procedure according to approved specifications.
„X Have the ability to prioritize and adapt to varying workloads and to work under great pressure.

Business Travel
Business travel of approximately 5 or less percent yearly is expected for this position.
Position-Specific Education, Experience and Certifications
Preferred Education
Bachelor¡¦s Degree in computer science or related field.
Work Experience
Typically 1 to 2 years in a related role. QA testing experience and storage concepts preferred.
Specific Skills and Certifications
Ability to follow and report exactly as described in test cases/procedures. Ability to determine sufficiency of test cases/procedures to ensure high product quality. Ability to write test cases/procedures to an approved specification. Excellent trouble shooting skills. Computer operating system (especially for Windows platforms), appropriate subsystems and test tool knowledge. Demonstrates an understanding of coding languages. Has an understanding of multiple hardware and OS platforms.
